Apprentice is not simply a smaller Elite
The current manufacturer comparison separates the two platforms by more than size. Apprentice uses a smaller motion and power package with published X/Y rapid rates around 225 IPM, while Gen 2 Elite publishes up to 600 IPM X/Y and uses closed-loop motors with larger 1616 X/Y ballscrews. The Elite family also offers 7 inches of published Z cutting area and a larger accessory ecosystem.
Choose Woodworker, Journeyman or Foreman by project width
The Gen 2 Elite sizes share the same general architecture, so work envelope is the main separator. Woodworker is the square 33-inch option. Journeyman extends X to roughly 49 inches while keeping Y near 33 inches. Foreman expands both directions to roughly 49 inches.
None is a true 48×96 one-setup full-sheet machine. If cabinet sheet processing is the primary workload, compare indexing carefully or move to the full-sheet 4×8 class.

Current Gen 2 material advertises Redline spindle options, ATC, rotary, laser, dust collection and vacuum-table paths.
